Scotch students and staff had the opportunity to watch Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra rehearse in the Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday 2 March. This was a fantastic opportunity for the boys to hear the leading artists in their field playing live. We would like to encourage boys and families to take advantage of any opportunities to listen to live music from world-class performers.
On Thursday 10 March Mr. Jonathon Welch and his Choir of Hard Knocks will be visiting Scotch College for a rehearsal and performance with the Scotch Youth Voices and Combined Scotch/PLC Vocal ensemble. Boys who are members of the Scotch Youth Voices will attend an afternoon rehearsal with Jonathon Welch and his choir. The evening performance will feature all of these musicians and will commence at 6.30pm in the Dickinson Centre, tickets are available for this concert through 'Book a Scotch Event' through the school website.
The Friends of Scotch Music (FOSM) is a group of parents who support the work of boys and staff in the Music Department. The next meeting will be on Tuesday 15 March at 7.00pm with cheese platter and drinks provided. The evening will be held in the Senior School Music Room and FOSM welcome both middle school parents and parents with boys who are new to senior school. As the combined Scotch/PLC Symphony Orchestra will also be rehearsing at that time, you will have an opportunity to hear them prepare for their upcoming performances.
