Senior Library News and Updates

The Senior Library has been very busy over the break with the installation of the new International Open-Mindedness world news display. This upgrade was made possible by the Parents Association and library and the boys would like to thank the parents for this. The TV units will be displaying news from different regions of the world including Russia, Japan, Asia Pacific, BBC World News and the Americas. This will allow boys to see how news is reported and importantly, where it is not reported. The concept of this is based around the TED talk given by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie called 'The Danger of a Single Story'. This can be watched from this link http://www.ted.com/talks/chimamanda_adichie_the_danger_of_a_single_story?language=en

One of the changes that I would like parents to know about is the new library charges policy. Students who have an overdue book for more than a term (three months) will now keep the book and a charge will be added to the family account. The reason for this is that the library will have already replaced the book or resource, as they are needed for other boys across the College. The full policy can be found on ask.SCOTCH (available from the home.SCOTCH site) along with the new Challenge Policy, the Weeding Policy and Gift and Donations Policy.

Finally, parents and students can get an update on the Middle School and Senior School events from their respective webpages available from http://home.scotch.wa.edu.au

If you have any questions please contact library@scotch.wa.edu.au to get a prompt response.

1Degree News and Updates

Over the holidays the 1Degree team have been busy getting new laptops ready for those students in Years 7, 9 and other groups. This has all progressed smoothly with the process finishing this week. The Tech Centre and 1Degree are available to answer any questions you might have in relation to technical issues. A reminder also that the new service of ask.SCOTCH (http://ask.scotch.wa.edu.au) is now available and has many answers to general questions for the community. Where you feel an answer does not match, please submit a question and we will respond within one working day.
