Since the end of last term, the boys in 5W have been studying the transdisciplinary theme of 'How the World Works'. Within this, we have identified the differences between biomes around the world and what makes those particular biomes special. We have looked at the flora and fauna within those biomes and shared this using MinecraftEDU. Additionally, the boys have been looking at the planet of Pandora from Avatar. From this, the boys wrote some excellent descriptive pieces using various forms of figurative language as well as their five senses. We are now finishing off this unit of inquiry and the boys are creating a documentary (think David Attenborough but better…) to showcase how organisms have adapted to their surroundings, before moving on to our final unit of inquiry for the year.
