Middle School Speech Night 2014
This Thursday 4 December is our Middle School Speech Night. The evening commences at 6.30pm in the Dickinson Centre. A unique feature of this year's Speech Night will be the presentation of Book Awards to boys across the curriculum. Perhaps different to Book Awards in other settings, our book awards are a reflection of the IB Learner Profiles and Attitudes and their importance in our curriculum and the Middle School philosophy. Book Awards are presented to students who typically show the following: sustained enthusiasm, willingness to collaborate, are curious, have a love of inquiry and are self-motivated. They take some risks and are willing to communicate the processes and findings of their learning. These students are not necessarily the highest achieving student in each curriculum area, although sustaining the above attributes, in many cases, it can often be the case.
Whilst Book Awards are a central feature of the evening, so too are the four fantastic musical performances. One of the performances, the Virtual Choir, had its global debut only 2 weeks ago. I look forward to sharing this special event with you.
