Last Friday night we said thank you and farewell to our leaving Year 12s at the Valedictory Dinner. It was a wonderful night that began with a chapel service before entering the Dickinson Centre for dinner. The venue had been transformed into a spectacular dining room featuring large floral displays throughout. The meal was prepared by our own Scotch catering staff and served by 70 boys in the current Year 12 cohort. The highlight of the night was an inspiring speech from Mr Hales. He shared with us some of his own experiences and life challenges and likened life's experiences to a rugby game. He made us laugh and he made us think. The Valedictory Dinner was a night enjoyed by well over 400 guests and made possible through the efforts and planning of the Mothers' Auxiliary who continue to give tirelessly to school events throughout the year.
As we commence the last week of school for this calendar year, I look back at the year passed with much pride and admiration of the efforts of the large majority of boys in the Senior School. Boys have forged new ground in academic competitions, embraced the new opportunities that have become available through the Round Square and most importantly, acted thoughtfully and considerately for the benefit of others. 2014 has been a year filled with highlights and will remain one many will remember fondly.
I wish all families a joyous Christmas and a safe and restful holiday period.
