Creativity, perspective and intellect

On Wednesday 10 September a magnificent, diverse range of artwork created by students from Year 1 to 12 was showcased in the Dickinson Centre. Families were invited to attend the Official Opening and members of general public, teachers and classes viewed the exhibition over the next couple of days. It is always inspirational watching the joy of students seeing their artwork framed or exhibited and be able to share their ideas with an audience. Boys also had an opportunity to see different techniques and materials being used. It was great to have conversations with past students who have moved on from the Junior School into the Middle and Senior school, continuing their arts learning journey. There has been a lot of attention in the media lately about the value of Arts Education and its positive impact on learning in general. For example;

"Arts education not only enhances students' understanding of the world around them, but it also broadens their perspective on traditional academics. The arts give us the creativity to express ourselves, while challenging our intellect. The arts integrate life and learning for all students and are integral in the development of the whole person."
