Primary Years Programme (PYP)
2014 Exhibition
The Junior School Annual Year 5 PYP Exhibition is always a highlight of our school year. This year was no exception. The teamwork from our Scotch Community has been outstanding, and for me, an absolute privilege to be part of. The classroom teachers, Mr Whiston, Mrs Ritchie, Mr Norman and Mrs Lopez, worked above and beyond, as did all the teachers across the Junior School and the Year 5 parents as well. The mentoring and support the boys received was exceptional. To see the growth of young, independent, life-long learners was the biggest highlight for all.
The following reflections on the Exhibition are from our parent and extended professional community. A testament of the strength of the Primary Years Programme and the quality of staff in Scotch College Junior School.
"Outstanding! Well done to the boys and particularly their incredible teachers. Your patience is legendary! Thank you for taking my boy through this journey!"
"It's wonderful to see the effort put in by all the boys. When you take time to stop and listen to the way they speak, what they say, and what the experience has taught them, it's hard to imagine they are only year 5. Well done to all."
"I am very impressed by the work completed by 5W and 5D in this year's PYP. The topic of migration has given the boys lots of opportunity to reflect on different communities and the influences on their life and the reasons for moving countries. Well done boys."
"I am amazed and impressed with what all the boys have achieved this term. I know that when I was 10/11 years old, I would not have had the confidence and ability to do what they have. Well done!"
"Blown away! Awesome! What an amazing journey for young minds and what promise it holds for any destination they may choose! All a testament to the effort of the teachers and mentors!"
A sincere thank you to all involved and a huge congratulations to our Year 5 boys.
