Winter Term Wrap Up

We have reached the end of a very busy and fulfilling Winter term. Winter sport has concluded as well as a short but intense Athletics season. Congratulations once again to Andrew House on winning the Inter-House Carnival and to all the Middle School boys involved in a very successful Inter-School campaign. Boys have also been busy this term with a sustained effort in fundraising activities contributing to Variety WA and their support for children living with domestic violence.

At the start of the term we had boys in each class determine their goals for this semester and during this final week of term students will review these goals in light of starting Spring term fully focussed and knowing how to reset themselves for the final eight weeks of the year.

As we move into Spring Term please be reminded that Summer uniform is to be worn from the first day back, Tuesday 14 October and that Summer sport begins in Week 1 for both JPSSA and PSA sports. Students have already selected their Summer sport with Mr Caniglia and Mr Felgate.

This week Year 7 boys are participating in International Immersion Week with 40 boys currently in Singapore, 60 boys on a parallel Singapore@School programme, 40 boys on a French Immersion and 25 boys on a Indonesian Immersion Programme based in and around the school and through a number of excursions. It is a very rich and fulfilling week, certainly from a cultural perspective for these boys, and something I believe the Year 6 students look eagerly toward next year.

I would like to express my thanks for your participation in attending the Student Led Conferences at the beginning of the term. To the mothers who helped at the Year 6 and 7 Quiz Nights (which were a tremendous success) and to all who attended our Athletics Carnivals and sat on the sidelines during winter sport to cheer and encourage our boys, your support is truly appreciated and valued.

As we finish the term it is appropriate to say thank you to Ms Gabriel Hodgson for her work in 7W while Ms Ward has been on long service leave. Ms Ward will be returning to Scotch and 7W at the commencement of Spring Term after a fantastic break touring the Kimberley and the north-west of Australia.

Winter Term concludes this Friday at 3.25pm. I wish you all a pleasant and enjoyable holiday break with your family.

Mr Richard Ledger

Head of Middle School
