Middle School Athletics 2014
The 2014 Athletics season commenced with an action-packed day of Inter-House competition. Several records fell: Luca Fry (7.5W) took a 1987 record in the 800m in addition to the 1500m, whilst Will Gordon (6.1GB) claimed both the 200m and 400m respectively. Impressively, the active day of track and field events for all students resulted in the overall points being very close. In fact the winning house only claimed victory following the relay events. House Champion boy in Year 7 went to Benjamin Gale(7.3L), whilst Jesse McDonald(7.6G) claimed runners-up. In Year 6, House Champion was awarded to Will Gordon (6.1GB) with Ben Clarke(6.2C) attaining runners-up. Final Standings:
1st | Andrew (1331) |
2nd | James (1321) |
3rd | Robert (1139) |
4th | David (1035) |
5th | Bruce (952) |
6th | Gordon (922) |
Several of our athletes then went on to compete at the JPSSA and PSA Inters on Thursday and Friday respectively. Scotch took out top honours in the JPSSA competition whilst we finished 32 points behind the winners to take out 2nd position at the PSA event. Notable achievements came from Harry Imison (7.4T) and Tomaye Mojuetan (7.5W) winning the Division 2 1500m and Triple Jump events whilst Lucas Triglavcanin (7.3L) won the same event in Division 1. LucaFry (7.5W) had a great race finishing 2nd in the 800m whilst Matt Moore (7.6G) placed a credible 3rd in the 400m event. Such exposure to this level of competition enriches the development of the boys and creates a wonderful culture particularly in the senior division. Congratulations to all our athletes.
