FOUNDERS DAY - OSC CRICKET TEAM OF THE CENTURY
14 NOVEMBER 2014
Cricket tragics unite! OSC's biggest event of the year, Founders Day Dinner, is less than a month and a half away. Time to get a table together, re-live your glory days, and help us celebrate the College's grand cricketing tradition. This will be a fantastic event, with OSC Mike Thompson hosting, and the announcement of a Touring Squad and First XI made up of OSC's selected from amongst some of the state's and country's cricketing super-stars.
You will not be surprised at how rich our cricketing heritage is, but you will enjoy seeing who has been chosen from amongst such a strong field.
Here's the famous 1933 First XI, for instance, comprising members who contributed to an astounding 661runs, in a memorable match against Guildford (including 198 from Thomas, and 150 from Allnutt). Many will remember the late, great Geoff "Skins" Newman (scoring 88) from his days as a Maths master and later Deputy Principal - what a fresh-faced lad he is there, front and centre.
Our head of selectors, legendary coach Ian Saggars has worked long and hard on these lists, and with Master of Ceremonies Michael Thomson ('77) a great evening is ensured.
Tickets are excellent value at $95.00 and reduced to $75.00 for Leavers from 2008 to 2013, This includes pre-dinner drinks, an excellent three course meal with fine wines from our sponsors Aravina Estates and boutique beer Gauge Road Brewing - not to mention what will be some fine memorabilia from our cricket bat sponsor Bradbury Cricket bats.
This fantastic event is not just for cricketers, so please come along for the festivities.
Places are strictly limited, don't wait for the final innings to be upon us, book early through the OSC page on Facebook, through our Alumni Centre accessible through the Scotch web site, www.scotch.wa.edu.au or by simply telephoning or emailing OSC Manager Lance Quartermaine at LHQuartermaine@scotch.wa.edu.au or telephone (08)9383-6849.
