da Vinci Decathlon 2014
A huge 'Well Done" must go to our Year 6 team who competed in the da Vinci Decathlon on Friday 22 August. The team of 8 boys was part of an academic gala day run in the spirit of an Olympic Decathlon. The ten events were exciting and challenging and had a particular emphasis placed on higher order thinking skills.
The ten disciplines entailed challenges in Engineering, Science, Art and Poetry, English, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Cartography, Code Breaking, Creative Thinking and Philosophy.
The Year 6 team was up against teams from all across Western Australia and they did incredibly well. Out of the ten challenges our boys came first in four of them (English, Science, Mathematics and Code Breaking) and placed sixth overall. It would appear that all of the lunch times and homework hours that the boys put in to preparing for this event really paid off.
