26 November 2018

Year's end is always a time for reflection. 2013 has been an interesting incredibly full year, not only for me but also the Old Scotch Collegians. I joined the OSC committee during 2013 and was honoured to be elected its President.

For me personally one of the highlights was being able to participate on the selection panel of the P C Anderson scholarship committee which has the difficult task of selecting the son or grandson of an old boy as its recipient. James Walsh was the worthy recipient, and was amongst a group of young men who were impressive on every front.

If you need more proof that Scotch is turning out significant leaders of the future, this is clearly shown in the mix of OSC alumni who have been nominated in the Business News 40under40 awards. We congratulate OSCs Justin Gilmour (OSC '91) (MD of Integro Private Financial Consulting), James Baird (OSC '91) (Director of JustInvest Financial Planning), Jeremy Nunn (OSC '99) (Director of Health Safety Works), and Everest adventurer Patrick Hollingworth (OSC ' 94) (Director of Red Rouge Nominees) who have all been nominated.

I strongly believe that 2014 will be seen as a significant year for the evolution of OSC. Our alumni model is maturing and changing, and our Association is designing and taking stewardship of some significant contributions back to the College.

Ours is "A community for life" on that note may I wish all within our community a heartfelt safe and Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, I look forward with some relish to 2014 and the challenges ahead.

Michael Silbert

OSC President
