Multicultural Experiences at North Balga Primary School
The Year 5 boys had the exciting opportunity last week to travel to North Balga Primary School as part if their unit of inquiry, 'Where we are in Place and Time', in which we are looking at the different reasons why people settle in areas across the globe. The North Balga students put on various cultural activities for the boys, including Burmese songs, Indian dance, Poi dance, Russian folk songs, African drumming, and the Haka. The Scotch students are also studying refugee movement, and we were fortunate enough to hear two-first hand accounts from parents of North Balga students about their experiences in refugee camps and their long journeys to Australia. It was an emotional and informative day in which the students were grateful for the opportunity to mix and share stories with their North Balga counterparts.
