Staff Movements in Middle School

Our final Middle School Assembly held last Friday was a delightful opportunity to recognise boys who have applied themselves in the manner and ethos of the International Baccalaureate Attitudes and Learner Profile. A full list of the boys who received book awards is included in the Student Awards section.

Staff movements in the Middle School at the end of this year and the commencement next year include Mr Stuart Shirley who has been at Scotch College for four years and now returns to Queensland and takes up a position at Brisbane Grammar School's Middle School. Mr Shirley also gets married during the holidays and we wish him all the very best for these three great adventures. It is important to acknowledge Mr Shirley's role in the development of our Middle School in the areas of iLearn and English, and his input in the areas of Rugby, and co-curricular activity. Ms Deborah Mullin will move from Year 6 to 7 in 2014 replacing Mr Shirley. We warmly welcome a new teacher in Year 6, Mrs Sophie Berry who comes from Floreat Primary School. Also departing at the end of this year is Mrs Anna Couzic who goes on Maternity Leave for twelve months. Replacing Mrs Couzic will be Miss Emma Payne who will teach Drama to Years 6, 7 and 8.

Student Reports and 2014 Class Lists will be mailed out to parents following Speech Night. Teachers will continue on campus until Wednesday 11 December should parents need to discuss any concerns. Students return to school on Tuesday 4 February 2014.

I look forward to seeing you all at Speech Night, an event that sums up what Middle School is all about as we witness the transition of boys from Year 7 Middle School into their Senior School Houses and Year 8.

I wish you all a pleasant and safe Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Richard Ledger

Head of Middle School
