Junior School Resource Centre

Hello from the Library. As we get closer to the end of another year please ensure your boys are searching out those overdue books. Also, try to ensure you are modelling good habits by finding the time in your hectic lives to sit down with a book, e-reader, newspaper or magazine and let your children see you enjoying the relaxing habit of reading. Sharing a story before bed is the perfect tonic for an overly stressful day (for all concerned) so below I have listed some books I think would be perfect to share with your children:

Years 1 - 3:

Gregor of the Underworld by Eoin Colfer

The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton

BFG by Roald Dahl

Waggit's Tale by Peter Howe

Years 4 - 5

Frindle by Morris Gleitman

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett

Hatchet by David Paulsen

Darius Bell and the Glitterpool by Odo Hirsch

Adults

The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Magee O'Farrell

Tears of the Giraffe by Alexander McCall Smith

Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey

Children Aren't Made of China by Wilson McKaskill (non fiction - resilience)
