Art News

There was excitement in the Google office this week as the judges, Bronwyn Bancroft, Professor Chris Turney and Lyn McGrath had the challenging task of selecting the 32 state and territory winners in the 2013 Doodle4Google Competition.

It is my pleasure to announce that James Mahaffy (3D) has been chosen as one of the winners in the Years 1 - 3 category. From thousands of school entries nationally, James is one of eight finalists in his category. This is an exceptional honour and acknowledges Jame's fantastic artistic talent.

James is an exceptional drawer with much creative ability. This year he has already been a finalist in The Shaun Tan Award, having his designs selected and printed onto Oz Design boardshorts, sold commercially, amongst many other accolades for his artistic talents.

The school will receive a printed copy of the doodle and James's doodle will be available on the website for Australia to vote on their favourite doodle in each age group. To vote visit http://www.google.com.au/doodle4google from Monday 14 October to Monday 21 October, 9am AEDT - Midnight AEDT.

I encourage everyone in the Scotch community to support James by voting online for your favourite doodle logo. Good luck James!
