Aquinas 4.5 (29) defeated Scotch 0.3 (3) points
Scotch College 7B's played Aquinas College 7B at City Beach in contested wet weather football. Having played Aquinas twice before, we knew this would be a tough game in tough conditions. Captain for the Day was Ed Boys working hard in the middle, Chris Vann ran hard and covered many miles. James Carrigg making a welcomed appearance for the B's haing more handballs than anyone on the ground whilst Bailey Flecker and Josh Spadanuda stood up in the back line all day to a steady barrage of Aquinas attacks. This the third time we have played Aquinas and the margin is getting closer each time. Goal of the Day: Jono Prior, Mark of the Day Seb Horko.

Scotch 5.4 (34) defeated Guildford Grammar 3.2 (20)
The boys controlled the game from start to finish in very trying conditions. Although we were undermanned in the game we filled some extra Guildford boys in the side for a bit of a run. Tom Palmer's run proved crucial with Scotch spreading the ball quick and seamlessly with no regard for the wet conditions. The backline also held some strong marks to repel Guilford advances. The tackling pressure by the boys around the ground made for an intense game.

Scotch 32 defeated Aquinas 29
Our boys travelled to Aquinas College on a typical Winters day. Scotch lost the toss and kicked to the river end. Aquinas jumped out with a goal in the first minute of play. It was an even contest with both sides having a combination of 3rds & 4ths players. Scotch settled down and kicked two quick goals to take a 5-point lead.

Scotch defeated Guildford by forfeit
Unfortunately Guildford only had nine players for the game this week, We evened up the teams and played a 15 v 15 game of 12 minute quarters. Scotch kept the Guildford mixed team scoreless in what was a crack at wet weather footy ahead of a crunch game against Trinity College next week.

Scotch 14.18 (102) defeated Guildford 4.3 (27)
The return of fixture following a two week break provided a clash between Scotch and Guildford in what was the teams first true wet weather contest held this year at the Memorial Oval. In a fairly tight opening minute both teams endeavor to win the ball could not be faltered however, the ability to take hold of the ball and only then make a decision would prove to be the deciding factor between the two teams. As the rain increased in intensity so did the attack and endeavor of every play in all positions allowing Scotch to double their score in the remaining two quarters providing an insight into the improvement to come. The mid season break proved to be invaluable for the players who worked themselves to the limit in the first nine rounds of the season, listening then implementing all instructions delivered in that time frame. Players were able to ease the physical and mental load required during the program. It is the ability of this group of players to deliver quality above and beyond on the track and during the game when required that allows each individual to switch off at all other times knowing the work has been done. A trait that takes most sportsman years to come to grips with.

A good game by the boys, scoring within 30 seconds and following it up with a second goal 15 minutes later. We had more chances, and were unlucky not to convert them, but the two goals were enough to seal the game.

Scotch 6 defeated Guildford 1
This was a terrific performance and highlighted by man of the match Jack Dowlands three goals. We moved the ball well and Sutherland and Ferri were very sound at the back denying Guildford much time or room. 3-1 up at half time we got the crucial next goal from a corner rebound and the game was safe. Everyone contributed and Trenton Matthews and Josh Taylor, were particularly good.

Scotch 57 defeated Aquinas 0
Before the Game started it was probably the worst conditions Scotch had faced this year with severe rain and hail. After watching the Year 7s perform before the game the boys had a benchmark to follow. Within five minutes of the game starting, Ben Moran (captain) scored one of the best tries of the season, side stepping most of the Guildford team, before scoring right under the posts. After converting his own try, Ben scored again, to show that he was one of the better players on the field. After the break Guildford came back to close the gap to only five points. Scotch then started another scoring serge to dominate the remainder of the game. Try scorers were Joshua Pretorius, Ben Moran and Carlin Feely.
Player of the day was Max Gurbutt. The boys are looking forward to their game against Trinity.

Scotch 36 defeated Trinity 10
Returning after the school holidays, Scotch looked like they hadn't missed a beat and despite the shocking weather conditions, managed to put together their best effort of the year and overwhelm the Trinity team. Scotch's particular strongpoint was their backline which terrorised the Trinity defense all day and put a stop to the few attacking plays Trinity conjured up. The forwards again worked hard all day and it was good to see Scotch's rucking improve, which led to the team stealing a lot of Trinity ball. With just a few weeks left to go it's good to see that Scotch is putting in such a strong performance and playing well as a team.

Guildford 12 defeated Scotch 10
For the second time this season Scotch lost to Guildford by a solitary kick at goal. Guildford adjusted to the conditions more effectively and with a strong wind at their backs took a 7-0 lead into half time. Understandably, errors were high due to weather, and fluency was an issue however, Scotch began the second half with greater purpose and energy and after a barreling run by Matthew Yelland - Hunter, Ben Corser crossed over in the corner. Hanlin's conversion hit the cross bar from wide out. Guildford struck back immediately to restore their lead, however Scotch fought back and when Rory Walker sniped his way over to reduce the deficit to 2 points hope was restored. As hard as they tried Scotch could not put together enough phases and Guildford claimed a hard fought victory.

Guildford 24 defeated Scotch 5
The Scotch 2nd XV had a tough encounter against a good Guildford team on Saturday. Scotch came into the game confident after two good victories at the end of the previous term. They did however make some basic errors in the first half trying to play running rugby in their own 22, in inclement weather and into a strong wind. As a result of some poor decision making the Scotch team soon found themselves under plenty of pressure. Baptiste Henri and Liam Warner provided some enthusiastic defense around the ruck amongst a wave of Guildford attacks. Michael Aitken led the team intelligently whilst Rob Steadman and Sam Buswell got Scotch out of trouble twice with some determined defensive running close to their own line. Guildford however was too strong. Men of the match were Baptiste Henri and Dan Bloch.

Guildford 62 defeated Scotch 0
This match was very difficult for Scotch. Not only were they facing a much larger Guildford side, but they also faced some incredibly wet and windy conditions. Disaster struck early on in the match when captain Andrew Yin dislocated his shoulder for the second time this season, ruling him out for the remaining few matches. As well as the size factor, the opposition also dominated in possession, limiting Scotch's ability to create any chances for points. A glimmer of hope arose when a connection from the Grant twins seemed to result in a try, but it was unfortunately disallowed.

Guildford 3 defeated Scotch 1
We played very safely and did not have many attacking opportunities with the ball skidding very quickly along the ground. Some great saves by Josh Dyson in goals kept us in with a sniff and some desperation on defense kept us in the game. Good effort by the boys in tough conditions.

Scotch 3 drew Guildford 3
The B's showed plenty of character and determination in their match against Guildford. Playing in difficult and inclement conditions, the B's came back from 2 goals down and managed to earn a hard-fought 3-all draw. Congratulations to Michael Warnock for his spectacular hat-trick.

The 7Cs put in a tremendous effort in the rain. Strikers, Joe Banks, Harrison Ashbee and Aren Leishman, were on fire and our defense was solid with Heath Certoma, James Richards-Adlam and Ethan Lundie Jenkins showing some good form. Tom Ambrose did a great job in the goals.

Scotch 5 defeated Christ Church 0
Scotch performed brilliantly. With weather setting in boys played a great intense game, in which the Christ Church side could not contend with. Christ Church did however require players, which lead to an enjoyable clash of team camaraderie on the field. Scotch remained relentless on attack as the game progressed, with was supported by great teamwork in the midfield, which had only just been put together and were not used to normal play strategy, this lead to a great flanking game, with many runs down the wings to get to some great striking work. Boy's in defense played a game which almost solidified success, Jefferson Lee who has come a long way over the season is vastly improving and providing to be a great player to the game and Kerry who played with an injured risk showed great leadership.

Wesley 4 defeated Scotch 1
The Scotch 9D's versed the Wesley 9D's for the third time this year. After losing the first game at Collin's oval, Scotch rallied and won the 2nd game 2-1. Unfortunately the third game was lost 4-1, which was disappointing. The player's all put in good efforts in the conditions. We went into halftime 2-0 down, and got a goal 2 minutes in, making it 2-1, and giving scotch a chance, however we tried too hard to get goals and in the end conceded. It was a disappointing loss, as we had won four in a row before this game.

Scotch 4 defeated Guildford 1
Atrocious weather, the first half produced good football scoring three goals. Declan and Macaulay produced good finishes for three goals and there were several other chances. The second half was pretty ordinary although Chris' goal was textbook, Scott to Tom who took to goal line and crossed with favored left foot to unmarked Chris. 2 minutes short of keeping a clean sheet after a Guildford corner held up in the wind.

Scotch lead the game 2-1 at half time courtesy of goals from Michael Mailes and Sam Bruce. Defending into the wind, Luke Divigilio scored to open up the game to lead 3-1. Credit to GG, they never gave up and pegged back two goals in the last 10 minutes to end with a draw.

Scotch 2 defeated Guildford 1
Facing driving wind & rain in the first half, Scotch produced a determined & disciplined performance to take a 2-0 lead by half time. A well placed pass from Seb Bentley to the feet of Tas Mitaros speeding past his opponent, drawing the keeper from his line & placing his shot to the right of the keeper into the unguarded goal. The 2nd goal was from a corner that wasn't properly cleared & when the ball was returned into the Guildford penalty area, Kelvin Wang turned to cross for the diving Yannick Livingstone to head home goal number two. We must be more intense about our business for the two games we face this week as nothing less than 100% commitment for the full 80 minutes of each game will be necessary for us to get the results we desire.

The doubles fixtures were a little closer, however Scotch again prevailed with all 3 matches.
