Trinity 144 defeated Scotch 0
The 7Bs had a very tough day at the office last week. It is always hard to score when you don't have the ball. Seb Horko ran his heart out and was in every pack consistently winning the ball against bigger opposition. Elliot Young moved to full back and took some telling marks and made some excellent spoils and Daniel Paganin showed some good run on to increase numbers at contests and showed how to muscle the football out of a pack numerous times. The team showed more grit and endeavour as the game went on, but the final siren was a relief particularly to our over worked back line.

Scotch 7.17 defeated Wesley 3.4
A great result for the boys and it gives a fair reflection on how much the group has improved. We began the game slowly and we went into quarter time behind on the scoreboard and looking for answers. The remaining three quarters displayed some of our best footy for the year. Our success was characterized by our tackling pressure and superior hardness at the footy. I am very proud of the boys effort at training and on match day recently and its evident that the lads are starting to enjoy working hard and playing with their mates. 8C

Scotch 58 defeated Wesley 49
Scotch started the game slowly, which allowed Wesley to get the jump on Scotch. However with some hard work the team was able to work their way back into the contest but without impacting the score. The second quarter saw a more free flowing game by Scotch, this time the team was able to get the score on the board and go into the major break with the lead. Scotch set ourselves for a big, hard working second half. The team was able to deliver and turn for home in front. Scotch knew that Wesley would not lie down and that the team needed to continue to work hard to finish the game off. As expected Wesley had the breeze in the last quarter and came out firing. Two quick goals saw Wesley snatch the lead. However Scotch remained calm and stuck to the team plan and structures. In the end Scotch were able to hold strong and come away with a very hard fought and well deserved victory.

Final Score
3rds 22.10 142
4ths 3.4 22
Better Players: Ron Courcillor, Andrew Mackie, Gabriel Komarzynski,
Avon Vlahov, Luke Beardsell, Harry Josland and Stewart Jan.
The better side won - because they had more purpose and better skills. As for competing, the 4ths did their best. Our biggest problem is our on ballers and centre line - you must learn how to defend as well as attack - which then puts greater pressure on the backline. Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

The team played well. So much more passing that was slow to pay off. The second half finally saw the goals come our way. Wesley kept the pressure on and we managed, through some excellent defensive work, to keep them out. Great work boys.

Scotch 13 (Oliver Harding, Tim Sewell, Josh Pearson 3 goals each) defeated Wesley 0
Complete superiority in the midfield ensured that the ball was almost continuously in our attacking half and it was pleasing that we kept the play open by using width and length. Josh Pearson was an ever present danger in attack, Tim Sewell presented himself and finished off well, Lucas Sheridan was solid in defence and Tim Reynolds was strong and effective at right half. However, most important in the dominance was the hard work and passing skills of midfielders Ollie Benson, Ollie Harding and Alastair Murray. After tuning up with a practice game against the 9A's we look forward to finishing the term well against quite a strong Aquinas team this Friday.

Another hard fought win for the boys. Lachie Greenland scored midway through the first half, and we held that lead going into halftime. Alex Weeda's shot early into the second half forced a terrific save out of the Wesley goalkeeper, and strong defence from Daniel Ells, Jack Dunkeld and Liam Anstiss helped us hold on for a 1-0 win.

Scotch struggled against a pacy and skillful Wesley side, snd found itself 0-3 at half time. The second half was much better but our lack of composure in the circle meant we could not score despite several short corners.

The boys had a solid game with nice spacing and ball movement running into space. An early goal in the first half by Lachy Cumming got the ledger open. Solid defence by the back line and effective support by the midfield kept their attackers away from the goal. Josh Hook got the only other goal for the game. We were a little unlucky with a number of very solid shots at goal. Great effort by the entire team for this win.

The Bs maintained their recent impressive form with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Wesley. Lewis Hellewell's opening minute thunderbolt from outside the box set the tone for the afternoon with all players demonstrating a strong desire to win the ball and engage in an attacking brand of soccer. Well played boys.

We won 2-1! We versed the Wesley team that we recently lost 5-1 to so it was a very good result, especially considering we only had 10 players. Connor was the star with an amazing goal just into the second half, after Wesley had taken a 1-0 lead to make it 1-1. Then some excellent defending by Edd, Tim, Manus, Andrew and Hugh held tight at the back until the last minute when we were awarded a penalty which Connor converted for a second goal to him, which made it 2-1. Great result and the boys very excited to win which is good to see.

At last our goal difference is positive - F = 15; A = 14. Re-shuffled back four with Aaron to RB, Matt to LB and Jobah to central defender behind Will - mainly worked but we need to mark players more closely. And we are 2nd on the table. Declan scored all three. Josh Mannolini is GK and had an outstanding game. He is tall and quick across the line and made two very good saves.

The seconds had a very closely fought fixture against Christchurch. After the singles matches it was 3 all, which included a fantastic win to Mitchell McTavish who is continually improving his skills and tactics. Both teams one a doubles match each and therefore it came down to the final doubles fixture which was one by Cameron Webster and Alasdair Skinner to give Scotch a hard fought 5-4 victory.

The firsts played Wesley on Saturday again missing a key player from the regular team. Jonothan Pinardi had an excellent win in straight sets, while Scott Webster made a great contest with one of WA's best badminton juniors, which was very commendable. A number of the crucial matches went to the third set, but Wesley was too strong in the end winning 8-1.

Having four Wesley runners in the top eleven places, the race was considerably more competitive than the scores reflect. Under a new coach, Wesley now have some very good runners and will continue to improve. The highlight again was an outstanding run from our Captain Doug Foulkes-Taylor. He won the race in record time, 1 minute 25 seconds in front of the second placed runner Kyle Newman. Doug has now run on three courses this season at Guildford, Hale and Scotch and set three records. Against the top Aquinas runner, the All School Events will represent challenges for him. Eight of our top fifteen runners were Year 9 students, all of who, play sport for the School on Friday afternoons. Denver Quantrill (9th), Angus McLeod (12th), Abe Potter (13th), Fletcher Wolpers (14th), Chase Deitner Fletcher (22nd), Cameron Green (24th) and Callum Jacobsen (27th) all once again deserve a special mention for without them there would be no team. They represent the core of the team. Each week they front up, often sort and stiff from Fridays game, and run themselves to exhaustion. Senior runners Harry Wiffen (5th), Jack Jones (6th), Josh Jones (7th ), Alex Brown (10th ), Jack Varney (21st), Alex Smith (26th), Ryan Hare (28th), Reid Arnold (31st), Lawson Shaw (33rd), Dylan Fletcher (37th) and Sam Walker, once again ran excellent races. All of these runners, without exception, have now learnt the mental strength and courage necessary to work really hard over a 5km race. This week we have the 5 man x 3km race at Guildford. Seven of our nine Year 9 runners will be absent due to the Canberra Tour. This will obviously weaken the team. The challenge is for each runner to run flat out over 3km and leave no fuel in the tank.
