Year 2 boys have been enjoying being involved in the iPad project during their unit of inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme 'How the world works' with the central idea being that 'force is applied to objects to enable movement and make deliberate changes'.
The boys utilise a variety of iPad resources to enhance their unit of inquiry in the classroom. In this unit, the boys used:
- Monster Physics
- Explain Everything
As part of their summative assessment, they were expected to create a machine that used forces to move or change an object. The boys designed the machine and demonstrated how it works on Monster Physics - iPad app. They then used the Explain Everything app to explain the forces at work on their machine.
These two apps are excellent for parents looking for good iPad apps to use at home. They encourage content creation and higher order thinking skills.
